If your car is lost or stolen and not recovered, or is damaged and the cost of repair is at least 60% of the manufacturer’s recommended retail price, insurers will replace your car with a new car of the same make and specification, if one is available in the UK. This cover is usually provided for cars under 12 months old.new car replacementoffered
Your clothing and personal belongings, such as your coat, handbag, CD’s or tapes etc, are covered against loss or damage by fire, theft, attempted theft or damage caused by a motor accident, whilst in or on your car.personal belongings£150 or more
If your child’s car seat is damaged in an accident or damaged by fire or theft, insurers will pay or contribute towards the cost of replacing the car seat. The cover is provided even if there is no apparent damage.child car seatcovered
Should you lose your keys, insurers will provide cover towards the cost of replacing the doors, boot, ignition and steering locks, the lock transmitter and central locking system of your car.loss of keys£250 or more
If you intend to use your car abroad, to ensure that your car is covered comprehensively when driving on the continent, your policy will need to provide you with foreign use cover. Insurers usually provide a number of ‘free’ days within the policy year. Where no ‘free’ cover is provided the insurer will still provide cover but at an additional cost to yourself.maximum free foreign days60 days or more
Nearly all insurers will allow you to protect your no claims discount, however, only a few will also allow you to ‘Guarantee’ your no claims discount. This means that insurers will not reduce your ‘no claims discount’ irrespective of the number of claims made under your policy. However, certain insurers will only provide this guarantee provided that the policy remains in force and you continue to meet their acceptance criteria. guaranteed no claims discountavailable
If your car is not safe to drive or not 'roadworthy' after an accident then your car will need to be moved. Insurers in general provide two levels of cover. A ‘service’ cover where the insurer will arrange for someone to come out and help you and remove your car, usually to the insurers approved repairer. Or a ‘Cost’ cover where any towing charges made for the removal of your car would be paid by your insurer, however, the arrangements would have to be made by yourself. A small number of insurers do not provide any cover at all.rescue coverservice
Once your car has been removed, you may well need transport to take you and your passengers to a safe place, your home address or your intended destination. transport after accidentcovered
Courtesy cars are provided by insurers when your own car is being repaired. This service is provided to ensure that you will be able to continue with your normal day to day activities without disruption. Courtesy cars are usually provided as ‘standard’ within most insurers policies or as an ‘optional’ extension where you are able to choose cover if required, subject to an additional cost.courtesy caroffered
Most courtesy cars supplied by insurers are “Class A” cars. For example this could be a Ford Ka or Nissan Micra. This type of vehicle may not be of any use, for example, if you have a family or if you just want that extra comfort and space. Therefore, enhanced courtesy car cover is needed. enhanced courtesy caroffered
